***Update from the Trek Team***

Posted by The Nick Jones Foundation

Tuesday 23 October

Today was hard work.

The team left Phakding with high spirits but with 9 hours of trekking and a climb to 3440m it was no walk in the park.

Nick struggled, but with the help of his friends and that classic Nick Jones willpower everyone made it safely to Namche Bazaar.

The views along the valley were phenomenal, along with a 250 ft high bridge, at least until the clouds closed in and the last 2km were wet ones.

We’re looking forward to tomorrow with a short acclimatisation hike to our first view of Everest (weather permitting).

Wednesday 24 October

Today was an acclimatisation day for the team, this didn’t mean a day off however.

First we trekked up to the Tensing Norgay Memorial were we got our first glimpse of Mt. Everest. From here we took a very difficult 1000+ foot climb up to the Everest View Hotel. Nick pushed very hard today and lead the pack up the steep winding incline. After a drink break with a fantastic view we trekked back, downhill this time, his friends watching his step, back to Namche Bazaar.

The weather was perfect which allowed for full 360° views of the phenomenal surrounding mountains.

After a more relaxed evening in Namche the team are preparing for a long trek to our next location, Debouche.

Wish us luck! Share our updates and as always, we are doing this to raise money, so donations are always appreciated.
